Our client based in Black River is recruiting an Assistant Accountant

  1. Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for daily bookkeeping, transaction processing and accounting for the clients.
  • Preparation of Financial Reports (including asset statements, solvency tests and various Accounting Data based on Accounting Policies).
  • Maintaining up-to-date accounting records for client entities, paying particular attention to bank statements, agreements, invoices, contracts, resolutions and other documents signed by an entity.
  • Responsible for the implementation of ViewPoint for allocated portfolio.
  • Liaising with the Administration Team or other relevant teams on accounts queries to ensure proper and adequate bookkeeping.
  • Reconciliation of all ledger items with supporting documents and maintaining schedules/workings.
  • Preparation of annual financial statements, management accounts and other ad-hoc financial reporting in accordance with IFRS.
  • Preparation of tax returns as per the rules prescribed by the Mauritius Revenue Authority and responsible for tax filings and tax compliance for the portfolio of clients.
  • Proceeding with FSC Surveys and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure client demands are met in a timely and proactive manner.
  • Maintain an awareness of changes to the relevant financial, legal and regulatory framework within which the company operates.
  • Be able to do the daily booking keeping, transaction processing and accounting for the clients upon the implementation of ViewPoint.
  • Working together with the administration team for the daily/weekly monitoring of incoming funds into client entities’ accounts.
  1. Overall Responsibilities  
  • To maintain the highest standards of confidentiality as detailed in the employment agreement. 
  • Working in line with company’s policies and procedures and ensuring consistency in service and standards. 
  • Maintain an awareness of jurisdictional statutory changes.
  • To assist with any ad hoc assignments as required. 
  • Compliance with company’s internal policies and procedures as may be amended from time to time. 
  • Remaining abreast of changes to the relevant financial, legal and regulatory framework within which the company operates. 

Candidate profile:

  • HSC + ACCA level 1
  • at least 1 or 2 years working experience
