Our client in the Financial Industry is looking for a Chief Risk Officer

Job Summary: Reporting to the Risk Management Committee of the Board, the Chief Risk Officer is responsible for all risk management strategies and operations, as well as supervising the Bank’s risk identification and mitigation procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

    1. Monitor the adherence to the risk policies of the bank and other related procedures and guidelines;
    2. Ensure that systems and procedures are set up to recognise, identify, measure, monitor and control operational risks, credit risks, market risks and all other risks applicable to the bank;
    3. Advise on risk management framework, assessment and measurement of risk, and act as an advisor to the business;
    4. Lead and oversee the implementation of all elements relating to the mitigation of operational, credit, market and other risks: risk framework, risk assessment, risk indicators, risk mitigation;
    5. Adopt a pragmatic approach to identifying and monitoring  risks generally;
    6. Manage and collaborate with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to ensure that cyber and technology risks are effectively administered;
    7. Identify risk control weaknesses, report them and suggest corrective actions;
    8. Advise on and monitor climate related and environmental financial risk, cyber & technology risk and, information security risks and other emerging risks; 
    9. Periodically assess the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and ensure it is in line with internal / external guidelines;
    10. Coordinate risk activities with Compliance / Audit functions;
    11. Communicate key risk points to the process owners, management and the Board Committee;
    12. Promote risk awareness, provide expert guidance, perform independent oversight and produce periodic reporting;
    13. Recognise the potential threats to operational efficiency and financial stability of the Bank;
    14. Deliver on internal, external and regulatory requirements on a timely basis;

Job Requirements:

    • Degree Holder in the field of Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, Cyber and Technology, or a related field or any equivalent qualification acceptable to the Bank. A Professional Qualification will be a definite advantage;
    • Minimum 8 years’ experience in Banking/financial services industry, with proven experience in a senior-level risk management role;
    • In-depth knowledge and experience in operational risk management, credit risk, market risk and other relevant risks;
    • Good understanding of financial products, processes, systems and guidelines in the Banking industry;
    • Superior communications and interpersonal skills and a consultative approach to problem solving;
    • Analytical and ability to work independently;
    • Ability to demonstrate strategic, execution capabilities & business acumen.
