Title: Accountant

Our Client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to oversee cost accounting, financial reporting, and data analysis functions. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in tracking operational costs, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and providing actionable insights to management for performance improvement and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Analysis & Reporting:
    • Analyze production costs, labor, materials, and overhead to determine cost efficiency.
    • Prepare and report cost of goods sold (COGS) and gross margin analysis.
    • Develop and maintain cost accounting systems and processes.
  2. Budgeting & Forecasting:
    • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts related to production and operational costs.
    • Track actual vs. budgeted costs and provide variance analysis.
  3. Product Pricing:
    • Support pricing decisions by providing cost estimates for new and existing products.
    • Review and update standard costs based on current market and production trends.
  4. Internal Controls & Compliance:
    • Implement and monitor controls over cost accounting processes and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
  5. Manufacturing & Operations Support:
    • Collaborate with production and procurement teams to identify cost-saving opportunities.
    • Provide financial insights to support process improvement initiatives.
  6. General Accounting:
    • Prepare accurate financial reports on a periodic basis.
    • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
    • Handle tax preparation, filing, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
    • Assist in internal and external audit processes.
    • Process and maintain payroll records.
    • Maintain proper accounting records and ensure systems are up to date.
    • Coordinate with other departments for financial matters and reporting.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional certification or part-qualified (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on cost accounting and reporting.
  • Industry experience in manufacturing, logistics, distribution, or related sectors is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data modeling).
  • Experience with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, Sage, or Odoo).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communicator, able to explain financial concepts to non-finance teams.
  • Fluency in both English and French.
