COMPLIANCE AND DEPUTY MONEY LAUNDERING REPORTING OFFICER
Our client, the Property Cluster of the Alteo Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join their team as the Compliance and Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer.
The candidate will be based at Vivea Business Park, St Pierre, Moka.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the compliance risk of the relevant entities of the Group, ensuring their adherence to all AML-CFT and Financial Crime laws and regulations, and guidelines pertaining to the real estate sector
- Develop internal policies and procedures relating to AML-CFT compliance; and implement and monitor the day-to-day operation of these policies and procedures
- Carry out in-depth Customer Due Diligence checks of all entities and individual clients
- Perform risk assessment in terms of identification of risk factors (in connection with high-risk countries)
- Monitor regulatory and legal changes, with focus on the Financial Crime Compliance space, and provide timely updates and implement any special measures required accordingly
- Promptly investigate and report suspected breaches of legal and regulatory requirements or internal compliance policies and standards to ensure that any material breach is appropriately resolved
- Undertake investigations arising from internal disclosures or related activity and be able to make recommendations
- Act as MLRO in the absence of the MLRO or should there be a vacancy in the MLRO position
- Coordinate AML/CFT training sessions for the junior/senior management level
- Liaise with, and prepare responses related to queries from, law enforcement and other regulatory authorities
- Take ownership of specific tasks as delegated by the MLRO, head of compliance or senior management; and perform any other cognate duties
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge and experience of AML-CFT laws and regulations and of the Financial Crime environment and emerging trends
• Experience in designing and implementing compliance frameworks and controls (if in the real estate sector, will be an advantage)
• Ability to promptly and appropriately escalate risks and/or failure of standards to be met, to the MLRO, head of compliance and/or senior management
• Analytical thinker; high level of accuracy; attention to detail
• Complies with professional standards and has a strong sense of ethics
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with absolute discretion
• Can work under pressure and respect deadlines
• Able to work independently; team player; can work collaboratively across teams
• Excellent communication skills. Fluency in English and French (both written and verbal)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, business management or any other relevant field from a recognised institution
• A professional qualification or certification in the compliance field, such as ACAMS or ICA Diploma or FCCCP delivered by the FSI
• 5+ years prior relevant Compliance/ Financial Crime Compliance experience
