Our client, Alteo Agri Ltd, is looking for a Purchasing Assistant
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- To manage and be conversant with the actual procurement business processes, policies, procedures and ERP/Procurement systems in place on both sites
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, risk mitigation and improved supplier relationships whilst ensuring value and quality is maintained in line to the company’s policies and/or expectations.
- To find and appraise new suppliers when necessary while ensuring current suppliers are treated fairly
- Accountable for negotiating with suppliers, liaising with stakeholders internally to review vendor performance, and mitigate risk through the successful execution of coherent procurement strategies
- To review and update the purchasing and stores policies and procedures as and when required
- To monitor stock levels to keep wastage reduced.
- Due to the remoteness of the sites and short period of the off crop, the candidate will be responsible for the effective and timely sourcing of goods and services.
- To initiate tenders to ensure consumables, equipment and parts are timely available for the crop season.
- Working closely and liaising with the head of sections and departments when necessary.
- Involved in day-to-day operations to ensure the smooth operation of the procurement and stores sections
PROFILE
- A bachelor's degree or any equivalent experience in procurement, project management, or a relevant logistics role.
- Have at least 3 or more years of experience in procurement and supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize activities to meet deadlines
- Conversant with Microsoft office and to have strong Excel skills
- Having a technical background would be an advantage
- Organizational skills.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
